The municipality of Trarego Viggiona, in the upper Lake Maggiore area, consists of three villages, Trarego, Cheglio and Viggiona, surrounded by greenery on the slopes of Mount Carza, with an enviable view of the lake.
The town is located in what is known as ‘the green basin’ due to the abundance of water and vegetation. The three small villages have a strongly rural character, with picturesque alleys and typical ronchi, or terraces where vines were cultivated, surrounding the settlements.
There are numerous trails that allow you to discover the area on foot, by mountain bike or on horseback. In the Monte Carza area, the Big Bench (the largest on Lake Maggiore) with its spectacular views and the family park with Wonderwood adventure trails enrich the area’s attractions.
Among the most significant events, we would like to mention: The Trarego and Cheglio International Art Exhibition, Sentiero d’Arte, is an annual event held at Easter, during which homes and studios open their doors to artists who present their works. The Feast of Sant’Eurosia in Passo Piazza, a religious event with an ancient tradition that attracts many faithful on the first Sunday in August. Viggiona by Night, a food, wine and music event in the squares and streets of the village, held over two evenings on the last weekend of July
